Tolu Sosanya comes to us a third year teacher with Baltimore City Public Schools. She has taught special education for grades, 2, 3 and 4 and general education for grades 2, 4 and 5. She currently teachers 2nd grade at Rognel Heights Elementary Middle School in Southwest Baltimore. Ms. Sosanya is a Teach For America Alumnae (2014 Baltimore Corps) and has specific interest in policies affecting the Opportunity Gap and academic achievement for Baltimore students. Prior to teaching, Ms. Sosanya served as the Director of Academic Programs at New Song College & Career Program based at New Song Academy (#322) in West Baltimore. Her journey into education was inspired by a deep sense of gratitude for teachers and mentors who taught and encouraged her, and a conviction to give back to youth through ensuring educational equity whether through teaching or policy. Before entering the field of education, Ms. Sosanya worked in the financial industry. She holds a B.A. in English from Hampton University and an M.Div from Duke University.
