Get fired up: Taking the first steps to improve education

Some of Maryland’s worst schools are populated by students whose families are among the most historically disenfranchised in our nation. And it’s not just history—still today, we see that some of our nation’s worst schools are 99% minority students and majority low-income students. By no fault of their own, based on zip code and race, students are subject to dismal educations and communities lacking the means to make up for it. This knowledge can be daunting or it can empower.
